Every Thurston Bros custom jacket order includes the use of a fit jacket and a professional fit consultation.  Fit consultation includes chest circumference evaluation as well as shoulder width and waist circumference recommendations.  Additionally, the fit jacket is used to determine custom body and sleeve lengths.  All fit recommendations are based on using the fit jacket as a measuring tool for the custom build.  Please keep in mind that three customers with the same body measurements will choose three different sizes in the same style (one chooses a tight fit, another prefers a regular fit and the third wants a roomier fit).  The fit jacket consultation makes it easy for each customer to get the fit and lengths they desire!

 

The USAAF Type A2 leather flying jacket was undoubtedly the most popular garment ever issued to aviators. First standardized on 9th May 1931, it became a classic during its long service life and remained in use in every theater of operations until long after WWII, despite discontinuation in April 1943.

The Aero USAAF 42-18775-P Type A-2 style can be specified in a variety of leathers, but Thurston Bros. recommends Vicenza Italian veg-tanned horsehide for this jacket. Click HERE for more information on ordering a custom Aero jacket!
