In the 1950s, a horsehide jacket was a practical garment, mainly worn by blue collar workers who were employed in transportation, freight-related industries, and other hands-on trades. Most of these workers were union members, affiliated to a Teamster Local, so the name "Teamster" seemed ideal for this typical 1950s working man's button-up jacket. The jacket has been designed for the great outdoors with extra length for warmth and practicality.

The Teamster features include five buttons to close the jacket from the hem to the neck when the weather determines, a bi-swing back for ease of movement, a stitched on half belt, two hand warmer side pockets with heavy cotton linings, adjustable straps at the waist, and American-style button cuffs. The sleeve cuff is button fastening for extra winter warmth.
